Mists of Dawn
It was about 7 in the morning when the swordsman stopped off after practice in a field to take in the chill refreshing air and watch the sunrise for a few moments. The fields were shrouded in mist, the sky painted with beautiful colors. Somehow he knew that the Sun had once again fallen in love with a pretty Princess somewhere nearby.
"Perhaps he noticed Moon Princess this morning," he thought as he climbed back up on his horse. "It wouldn't surprise me. Wouldn't surprise me at all."

Birds of a Feather
Once upon a time there were two friends who were pretty strange birds indeed. One was a Rooster by the name of Dr. Chickenhiemer who happened to be an expert in Trans-Dimensional Chronology. The other was a turkey who went by the name of "The Turkenator", and happened to be dumb as a bag of rocks. They enjoyed many an adventure together, and brought justice to the land for animal kind. Some day I may get around to recording a few of their stories.

Contemplation of Justice
While there are many ills and evils in the world, no one should fool themselves that Eternal Justice does not know of it, and has prepared the Judgement against the wicked. Those who suffer innocently can take refuge in this knowledge, while those who cruelly abide in their selfish ways should learn and resist the ensnaring temptations. Justice is patient and wise, and in the end shall prevail, whether it be on earth or in heaven. Of this no one should have any doubt.

Happy Thanksgiving
Even though life may not be perfect, we still have a lot to be thankful for. For one thing, we were not born turkeys. :)
Happy Thanksgiving!
A Shelf of Treats
Art Rebel found himself walking through a quaint little restaurant / grocery store in Tarrytown on the Hudson where they have shelves of jams and honey, and all kinds of exotic treats. So he took a picture. Of course.
Looking Through the Window
Art Rebel happen to be walking through a very pretty little town on the Hudson named Tarrytown. When he turned a corner he was surprised by this pretty sight.

Art Rebellion #30
Art Rebel found himself next to some women who had a flare for art, though they wouldn't admit it. After much cajoling, they finally contributed to this 3-Way Art Collaboration. Art Rebel was impressed.
:)
Here they are in more detail...

Rotundra The Squirrel
For years now we've been sitting outside on the front steps getting drunk and throwing peanuts at our adopted squirrel, Rotundra. She's gotten to be pretty big. Extra big. Like, I'm sorry, but that squirrel is fat. I mean FAT. For a squirrel. She probably weighs, I'm guessing, four pounds. She can bully small children.
Fortunately, she is a nice squirrel. Otherwise, we'd be in trouble. If she knew any kung fu, we'd have to pay protection money... in peanuts. LOTS of peanuts. She could wear an eye-patch and we'd have to join her gang.
Fortunately, though, she's a sweat-heart. Wouldn't hurt a fly. She's very cute. She likes to come up and take peanuts from our hands. She once climbed up on my lap. That hurt. She's really heavy. I thought she broke my tibia. But she didn't, so it's ok.
Anyway, if you are in the neighborhood and you see her coming over the tops of the trees or anything, just offer her a peanut. She's easy to please. But don't call her "Ralph". She hates that. If you call her that she gets mad. And you wouldn't like Rotundra when she's mad. Believe me. She can be a badass squirrel. She used to smoke cigarettes. She quit in 2007. But anyway, don't worry, you'll like her. She's great, and lots of badass stories.

Horizon Catches Fire
One day long ago, before most people can remember, Celestial Golden-Orb, our beloved Sun, caught the horizon on fire. As it happened he was gazing at Moon Princess, who happens to be a most wondrous and heavenly beauty. She was splashing around in her silver pool, bathing, and making jokes with her hand-maidens, and being utterly delightful as usual. She has such a sweet and clever personality, and such elegant manners! So ardently was the Sun enraptured by her, that a ray of light escaped from his eye and ignited a world-spanning blaze along the entire western horizon! So terrible was the blaze that the whole sky was lit up with a fiery red light. This event caused the ancient Sky Lords to protest.
"Why have you done this terrible thing!?" they demanded, having hauled the Sun before the Judgement Seat of the Emperor in the Heavenly Court of the Universe. Everyone glared at the Sun, waiting for his answer.
"Well, I couldn't help myself from staring," replied the Sun sheepishly. "She is very pretty, you know, and I kept thinking that perhaps she had taken a shine to me."
The Ministers, Counselors and High Muckity-Mucks all hung their heads in dismay.
The Emperor, however, being very wise, ruled in the Sun's favor, saying that such accidents are to be expected on occasion because, as he said, "the world in not perfect, nor are the things in it, nor even the Celestials who rule over it."
"Only Love is perfect", quoth the Holy Emperor, "and Love takes into account all things."
In the end the fire was put out by the Sky Lords who, by Imperial Decree, peed on it for forty days and nights, and so, fortunately, the earth was restored and made good as new.
So that the Sun would never forget and do so again the Great Holy Emperor of the Universe decreed that whenever the Sun should become enraptured by any beautiful Princess, he must paint a portrait of his feeling for her, which today we call 'The Sunset Sky', and 'The Dawn Sky'. And so long as there are beautiful princesses in the world, so it shall be from now until Eternity.

Pixies Dancing with the Moon
Once there were three pixie sisters who were not quite so mischievous as the others. Instead of tying horses manes into knots, or scattering the geese at midnight, or letting the fox into the hen house, they preferred to dance with Moon Princess in Dreamland. They had such a very lovely time of it. But of course, you know that their cousins were all very jealous and used to tease them about it quite a bit. But they didn't mind. Dancing with Moon Princess is worth more than ten rose petals floating on the still waters of Lake Beauty-Under-Stars, so the pixie sisters paid no attention to the teasers, except to say once in a blue moon, "If you weren't so jealous and annoying about it, you could have joined us instead. Then you might have had as much fun as we have had." Whenever they heard this, the other pixies would let out a wail and vanish into the marshes where they belonged. And so the pixie sisters enjoyed their time with Moon Princess, and the dear girl was happy to have the company.
Moonset at Dawn
The beautiful moon, celestial pearl, sets in the west, as the sun, divine golden orb, rises in the east, together creating a scene of transcendent beauty, for those who from their busy lives can take but a moment, or eternity, to see.

Hiding Face Beneath the Leaves
Once there was a pretty little Buddha girl who lived in the woods, hiding herself beneath the leaves, and watching the Universe spin around the Void forever. She was very happy there, and no one ever knew, until one day Green Jade Turtle happened to notice her as he was sun bathing in a lily pond. He didn't utter a sound, but patiently observed her radiance as she passed by in wonder. He was delighted by her presence, and so he kept her secret in his heart for a long long time. Until one day, he hummed a little tune to a butterfly in her honor, and you know what delicious little gossips butterflies can be!
Twin Dragons Going Out To Sea
Twin Dragons Going Out To Sea were observed by Green Jade Turtle while he was standing on an Ancient Spiraling Pattern Stone not far from the shore. Green Jade Turtle felt in harmony with his greater cousins, though he could not swim or fly nearly so fast as they, and so he was quickly left behind while the mighty ones chased after the fiery Tai Chi Pearl.

Prince of Dreamland
Peaceful and filled with tranquility, the Prince of Dreamland let his mind go and contemplated nothing as his spirit wandered far and wide through the cosmos. He came, eventually, upon a planet whose star had spun far away from it's galaxy, so it was suspended below the vast disk like a pearl earring. The planetary system had one world, and a huge Saturnian ring of asteroids positioned vertically from the galactic plane. He flew to the planet and watched its revolutions around that star, thinking, "What an amazing view one would have from that world!"

One Toe at a Time
Sometimes all it takes is putting one's toe in the water... as the follower of this blog knows, I've been trying for quite some time to encourage an Art Rebellion against the World of Ugly. Often I go it alone, but whenever I have the chance, and a willing participant, I try my best to foster the idea of collaborative art. This has two benefits. First, it increases the amount of creativity in the world. And two it brings people together in a fun way for the purpose of creating beauty. I really like this idea. So I try as often as I can. Seldom succeed, but I still try. Anyway, this was one of those times that worked, and so I present to you Art Rebellion #31. Here we go...
Next drawing surprised her again! So, she *can* draw after all. She just needed a little bit of friendly encouragement. What did I say to help? I said this: "Fear of what others will think is called 'insecurity' and this is what keeps most people believing that they can not do art. They are so worried about what others may think, they do not even try, but instead say they have no drawing talent. But drawing talent is more about a sense of freedom than technical skill. The first thing is to overcome one's fear. Then after that, it is only a matter of practice."
Then I suggested doing a small collaboration. Since she is from China I decided to ask for some help with my Chinese Calligraphy. She taught me how to make the characters for 'Good Sake'. And that was how this combination came about.
And this.
Finally she was daring enough to attempt to draw a Hand. And I was drunk enough to attempt the same. Side by side go the hands of the drunken artist and the new art student. Maybe she will keep trying to improve. What do you think?

Hall of the Strange Celestials
From ancient days the Celestials who roam the Cosmos Bright have made their home amid the stars, gleaming in the brilliance of Eternal Truth. Though the Infinite is beyond the mind of man, yet some few still strive to comprehend the Way of True Love. To these I bid Adieu, my dear friends. Adieu.

Gazing Buddha
One evening recently :B was sitting in a local restaurant when he happen to look up and see Buddha gazing at him serenely. So naturally :B whipped out his pen and made a drawing of him on the bar napkin. :)

Peaceful Harmony Laughing Joy
Four gentle Buddhas experiencing serenity beyond thought as the celestial music illuminates and warms their hearts.
Heavenly Glory Above the Traffic
The commute was long and tedious, as the rat-racers clamored, honked, and cursed beneath the Heavenly Glory. Unnoticed and unremarked by the writhing masses in their glass and steel machines, high above the Sky Lords were ablaze with the majesty and power of Eternal Truth. And so they serenaded the world with the Song of God, who created the Universe out of Love, and blessed it with Divine Beauty. An ant who happened to be climbing a leaf by the side of the road wondered, "... how long, oh Lord, before Man will become truly aware of the brilliance and artistry of Thy Wondrous Creation?"
On the Edges of Dreamland
The approach to Dreamland is very beautiful in the last ember-glow of summer, when the leaves have not yet turned to scarlet, but the air is filled with expectation of cooler days, pumpkins, and haystacks. The black cows on the emerald hill gently endure the turning of the celestial wheel, as they have for times past reckoning. Perhaps it is for this reason that the Hindu Religion tells us they are sacred. Surely if anyone may enter Dreamland easily, it is they.

Fat Bat-Monkey Monster
Once Upon a Time, there was a fat bat-monkey monster who lived at the bottom of the cookie jar. He was a mean old greedy monster who ate up as many of the cookies has he could, and didn't like to share at all. None of the children (or their parents, for that matter) could understand how cookies could disappear so quickly! Especially chocolate chip cookies!! And so they filled the cookie jar every night, and when they woke up in the morning there were only two or three cookies left! How shocking! The parents suspected that the children must be sneaking to the cookie jar late at night and eating them all. This was a big mistake, of course, but what could they do? Who can imagine that there is a fat bat-monkey monster living at the bottom of your cookie jar!? So they tried punishing the children by making them do lots of pushups and situps, and exercises in the hopes that the little cookie thieves would at least not gain too much weight. When the children complained to their friends, they were laughed at and made fun of. "Ha ha! We get to eat all of our cookies and we don't have to be punished with exercise!" they mocked. Of course, the children were so annoyed at this that they never said another word to their friends about it again.
Eventually the children grew up and happen to all be healthy and strong, and each one became very successful in life, and everyone in the family was happy; especially the parents who were so very proud of their children. And so it all worked out for the best in the end. And to this day their family is strong and healthy. All thanks to the mean old greedy fat bat-monkey monster who none of them ever suspected lived at the bottom of the cookie jar.
Funny how things work out sometimes, isn't it?

A the Forge Of Vulcan-Hephaestus
Bending is back to the labor, Vulcan-Hephaestus, artisan of the Celestials, brought forth a new wonder in the fiery dawn. What it was no mortals could fathom, but great it was indeed. The stars trembled in the heavens as the universe whispered ancient verses long forgotten, even by the Gods.
Flag Ship of the Sky Lords
Above and beyond the city there sailed silently over head, unnoticed by the teaming masses below, the great Flag Ship of the Sky Lords, as they went out to sea to lead the war in the skies over the foam speckled waves.

Lion of the Ancient Hittites - II
Another attempt at drawing the Lion of the Ancient Hittites, this time from memory while drinking sake. Better, I think. :)

Haiku Flowers
There were a small group of flowers while :B was dining. They were very pretty and the moon was shining, and so they reminded him of Moon Princess... so he made a little drawing of them. This way he would remember that evening and keep the fond memory.
